You do not need expensive tools to lower your risk. Most attacks begin with a fake message, and a few habits stop many of them.
1. Slow down on urgent requests
Messages that demand quick payment or a password reset are a classic trick. Confirm by calling the sender on a number you already know.
2. Use a different strong password for important accounts
Your email and banking passwords should never be reused. A password manager makes this practical.
3. Turn on two-step verification
Add it to email, social media and any business system that offers it.
4. Keep devices updated and backed up
Install updates, and keep a backup of important files somewhere that is not always connected to your computer.
5. Train your staff
One person clicking the wrong link can affect everyone. Show your team examples of fake messages.
